Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, the 23-year-old heir to the Belgian throne, has joined the ranks of notable figures at Harvard University. In September 2024, she began a two-year master’s programme in Public Policy at the prestigious institution.
The Belgian Royal Palace marked this milestone by sharing photos of the princess on social media, showing her in casual attire—jeans and a sleeveless top—embracing her new life as a student.
Before Harvard, Princess Elisabeth built an impressive academic record. From 2021 to 2024, she studied History and Politics at Lincoln College, University of Oxford.
She also earned an International Baccalaureate from UWC Atlantic College in Wales in 2020 and completed a year-long course in Social and Military Sciences at Belgium’s Royal Military Academy in 2021.
Her admission to Harvard followed successful entrance exams, and she was honored with a Fulbright Program award, a renowned US educational exchange initiative.
Born on October 25, 2001, to King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Princess Elisabeth is the Duchess of Brabant and first in line to become Belgium’s first Queen regnant.
She has been active in royal duties since childhood, starting with her first official engagement at age 9, opening a children’s hospital in Ghent. She also lends her name to a research station in Antarctica and a Belgian naval ship.
