New Delhi: A few years ago, starting or running a business was incredibly hard. But in 2025, launching a business has become much easier. Here’s the story of an entrepreneur who is determined to change the clothing industry with his brand, ‘BANASOUL‘.

From Small Town to Startup Building a Brand With SoulLooking Ahead

Shadab Sharif is an Indian entrepreneur and Co-founder and CEO of BANASOUL, a clothing startup that aims to redefine how we look at fashion not just as a style statement but as a reflection of roots, identity, and purpose.

Sharif started this startup with his co-founder, Dilshad Siddiqui. He was born and brought up in Najibabad, District Bijnor. He graduated with a Bachelor of Technology from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur.

Launched with a modest setup and a big dream, BANASOUL is more than just another apparel brand. The name itself draws inspiration from “Bana” — is Hindi word “KAPDA” which means “CLOTH” — and “Soul,” representing the deeper connection between culture and creativity. With this unique blend, the brand is positioned at the intersection of tradition and modern embroidery design.

From Small Town to Startup

Hailing from a middle-class family, Shadab’s journey wasn’t paved with privilege or capital. What he lacked in resources, he made up for in sheer determination and a deep sense of cultural pride.

He hails from Najibabad in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. His determination to build a brand rooted in pure desi aesthetics and design is now inspiring many aspiring fashion entrepreneurs across the country.

The courage to start a business comes only to those who have truly envisioned change and firmly believe in their own vision. His approach isn’t just about trends, but storytelling.

BANASOUL collections are inspired by the vibrant desi embroidery design, the intricate weaves of Indian textiles, and the evolving mindset of India’s youth — proud of their roots but progressive in vision.

Building a Brand With Soul

What sets BANASOUL apart is its commitment to sustainable and ethical production. The brand consciously works with local artisans, sources eco-friendly fabrics, and ensures fair wages — making it not just a clothing line but a movement for conscious fashion.

In just a short span, the startup has started gaining traction among young urban customers, social media influencers, and even a few celebrity stylists who are drawn to its raw, earthy appeal.

Looking Ahead

As India’s startup ecosystem continues to grow rapidly in 2025, Shadab Sharif’s BANASOUL stands as a testament to what true passion and purpose can build — even without a unicorn-sized budget.

With plans to expand into lifestyle products and pop-up stores in key metro cities, Shadab’s entrepreneurial journey is just getting started.
