Jaunpur, UP: Two brothers were shot dead late on Friday night in a targeted attack in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place near Ramnagar under the Mungrā Badshāhpur police station area, when the victims were returning home on a motorcycle.
According to police, the victims were identified as Shahjahan (60) and his younger brother Jahangir (45), both local businessmen. Around 10 p.m., unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle ambushed them and opened fire.
Shahjahan died on the spot, while Jahangir, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Prayagraj. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Senior police officials reached the scene soon after the incident. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Authorities are scanning CCTV footage from the area and questioning locals to trace the attackers.
Preliminary reports suggest that the murders may be linked to a personal rivalry, though police have not ruled out other angles. Heavy police presence has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
The killings have caused shock and tension in the district, with the victims’ families demanding swift justice.
