Gaza – The ‘Israeli’ navy detained Greta Thunberg on Wednesday intercepted several vessels from the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) as they approached the coast of the besieged territory.
According to the ‘Israeli’ Foreign Ministry, the passengers “are safe and are being transferred to an Israeli port.”
A video posted by the ministry on X showed Greta Thunberg gathering her belongings while surrounded by armed personnel.
“Several ships of the… flotilla have been stopped and their passengers are being transferred to an Israeli port. Greta Thunberg and her friends are safe and healthy,” the ministry stated.
Flotilla organizers, however, described the operation as an “illegal attack against unarmed humanitarians,” reporting that live streams and communications with several boats had been lost.

They appealed to “governments, world leaders, and international institutions to demand the safety and release of all” participants.
The Global Endurance Flotilla, part of the wider GSF initiative, set sail from Spain in early September. It includes around 45 ships and hundreds of activists from more than 40 countries.
Organizers said the vessels are carrying medical supplies, food, and school materials, emphasizing that the mission is “peaceful and non-violent.”
