Scottish Woman converts to Islam after being Inspired by ‘Establishment: Osman’

Istanbul – A Scottish woman has embraced Islam after being inspired by the popular Turkish historical drama “Establishment: Osman”, produced by Bozdağ Film.

In a statement, Bozdağ Film said that Julieta Lorena Martinez developed a deep interest in Turkish culture while watching the series. Her growing curiosity led her to explore Islamic teachings and history, ultimately influencing her decision to convert.

“I started watching Turkish television during the (COVID-19) lockdown because I was so moved by the story, the history and the Islamic information that I’d never known before,” Martinez told Anadolu Agency (AA). “This moved me to read the Quran, and two years later, after watching Osman, I took my shahada and became a Muslim.”

Martinez later traveled to Istanbul, where she visited the Bozdağ Film Plateaus and toured the show’s iconic filming locations, including the Kayı Tribe camp featured in the series. She described the experience as an “emotional pilgrimage,” adding, “I’ve been renewed. I love this.”

“Establishment: Osman” has become a global phenomenon, captivating millions of viewers around the world with its depiction of the founding of the Ottoman Empire and its celebration of Islamic and cultural heritage.
