Tehran : Iran may soon see a major leadership transition as reports suggest that Mojtaba Khamenei could be appointed as the country’s next supreme leader.
If confirmed, the appointment would make him the third supreme leader since the Iranian Revolution.
“After careful and extensive studies… in today’s extraordinary session, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may Allah protect him) is appointed and introduced as the third leader of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the decisive vote of the respected representatives of the Assembly of Experts.” – assembly said
Donald Trump has previously criticized the possibility of Mojtaba Khamenei taking the role, describing him as “unacceptable” and stating that Washington should play a decisive role in determining Iran’s next leadership.
Meanwhile, Israel has also issued warnings related to the succession process, saying it could target the next supreme leader and those involved in selecting him.

Analysts say the potential appointment could further increase tensions between Iran and its regional and international rivals.
The issue of succession within Iran’s leadership is already a sensitive matter, and any change at the top could have significant political and geopolitical consequences.
Observers note that developments surrounding the leadership transition will be closely monitored as they could affect diplomatic relations and stability in the wider Middle East region.
