California : Meta has officially launched Instagram Plus, a new paid subscription service that offers users additional features designed to enhance personalization, social interaction, and content insights on the platform.
Announcing the launch on June 4, Meta said the subscription is aimed at users who want more control over their Instagram experience while keeping the core platform free for everyone.
“Instagram Plus is a new subscription designed to give you more of what you love about Instagram,”
“The Instagram you know and love today isn’t changing and will always be free; this new subscription is simply an optional upgrade for people who want more control, deeper insights, and premium features.” meta said.
The subscription introduces a range of exclusive tools across three main categories: connecting with friends, gaining additional insights, and customizing the app experience.
Among the new social features is Story Spotlight, which allows users to give their stories higher visibility among friends.
Subscribers will also gain access to Super Hearts, animated reactions that can be used to celebrate friends’ stories, along with Multiple Story Audiences.
Enabling users to create unlimited audience lists for different groups of followers.
Another feature, Story Extend, allows stories to remain visible for 48 hours instead of the standard 24-hour period.
Instagram Plus also includes several analytics and viewing tools.
Users can access Story Preview, which lets them preview stories without immediately engaging, and Story Rewatch Insights, showing how many times a story has been rewatched.
The Search Viewer List feature allows users to quickly check whether a specific person viewed their story.
Subscribers can choose a Custom App Icon, apply a Custom Bio Font, pin up to six posts on their profile through More Profile Pins.
Use Post Directly to Profile, which allows content to be shared on a profile or highlights without appearing in followers’ feeds.
Meta said Instagram Plus is being rolled out globally and that additional premium features will be introduced in the coming months.
“And stay tuned, because we’ll keep adding new features to Instagram Plus over the coming months. We can’t wait for you to try it,” the company said.
The launch marks Meta’s latest effort to expand subscription-based services and provide users with premium options beyond the standard Instagram experience.
