New Delhi: Fresh tensions broke out in central Delhi on Tuesday during the ongoing protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).
While the main protest at Jantar Mantar remained peaceful, clashes were reported on Sansad Marg after some protesters moved towards the Parliament area.
According to Delhi Police, security personnel used tear gas shells to disperse the crowd after the situation turned tense.
Police also alleged that some protesters threw stones at officers and chased them along the Connaught Place area.
Delhi Police said five personnel were injured during the incident, including two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), one inspector, one head constable, and one constable.
The protest is centred on demands related to alleged examination irregularities and calls for accountability.
Authorities have increased security in the area, and the situation is being closely monitored.
Police have started investigating the violence and are reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved in the clashes.
