Facebook is rolling out a new feature that allows creators to make money from views on their public stories. This new monetization option is available globally to creators of the Facebook Content Monetization program.
With this update, creators can earn money from content they’re already sharing. Whether it’s a recipe video, a daily vlog, or a behind-the-scenes glimpse, creators can now earn revenue by posting to their Facebook story. Unlike other content on the platform, creators don’t need to reach a specific number of views before they start getting paid.
A spokesperson for Facebook told TechCrunch that payouts for stories depend on how well the content performs, and creators can start earning as soon as their stories go live.
This move is part of Facebook’s ongoing effort to attract more creators to the platform. The company is trying to compete with TikTok by offering financial incentives, including cash bonuses and support to help creators grow their communities.
For creators already part of the Facebook Content Monetization program, the new feature is automatically available as long as they have monetization enabled. There’s no need for any additional setup or changes to start earning from stories.

Facebook’s Content Monetization program was introduced last year to bring together its various monetization tools, including In-stream ads, Ads on Reels, and Performance Bonuses. After testing this new feature with a small group of creators, Facebook is now expanding it to everyone in the program.
In 2024, Facebook invited millions of creators to join the program, and the company says it plans to offer open enrollment for creators who are not yet part of it. Creators who want to be invited can express interest through the program’s website.
Facebook revealed that creators earned over $2 billion on the platform in 2024, with payouts for short videos, including Reels, growing by more than 80%. Since launching monetization in 2017, Facebook has paid over 4 million creators.
This new feature gives creators another way to profit from their content while keeping their audiences engaged on Facebook.
