LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky says “AI Literacy Is More Important Than a Fancy College Degree”

New York – LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky has said that in the fast-changing job market shaped by artificial intelligence, having a “fancy college degree” is no longer enough — what truly matters is the ability to adapt, learn, and work alongside AI.

Speaking at a recent event, Roslansky emphasized that the most valuable skill in today’s workforce is AI literacy, describing it as the foundation for future employability.

“The people who will thrive are the ones who are adaptable, forward-thinking, ready to learn, and ready to embrace these tools,” he said.

Roslansky noted that many companies are shifting away from prioritizing formal degrees and focusing instead on skills-based hiring, as technology continues to redefine traditional job roles.

“AI is not going to replace people but the people who use AI are going to replace the people who don’t,” he warned, adding that human skills such as empathy, communication, and adaptability will remain irreplaceable in the age of automation.

According to LinkedIn’s latest data, job postings that require AI-related skills have risen by 70% over the past year, reflecting how industries are rapidly integrating the technology into everyday work.

A separate Microsoft survey cited by Roslansky showed that 71% of business leaders now prefer candidates with AI skills over those with more experience but no AI background a signal that practical tech fluency is becoming more valuable than traditional credentials.

Roslansky’s message serves as a wake-up call to both professionals and educational institutions. He urged universities to rethink their curricula and job seekers to focus on continuous learning, saying that “adaptability is the new currency.”

As AI continues to reshape industries, his advice underscores a global shift: the future of work will belong not to those with the fanciest degrees, but to those who can think, learn, and evolve with technology.
