A Palestinian software engineer developed an app to boycott Israeli products all over the world by scanning the Barcode.

After the brutal war against the Palestinians, one of the engineer decided to protest and boycott Israeli products peacefully all over the world.

The No Thanks! App was conceived in October 2023 following the death of Bashbash’s brother in an Israeli airstrike on October 31, 2023 but launched on November 13, and has been downloaded over 500,000 times so far, and social media comments suggest people around the world, from India to Belgium, are interested in the app.

No Thanks! Ahmed Bashbash, a Palestinian Software engineer from Gaza, Palestine, founded the app. Ahmed is currently living in Hungary.

According to the Palestine Health Ministry, nearly 15,000 Palestinians have died since October 7 due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. Since then, people worldwide have taken sides, supporting either Israel, Palestine, or even Hamas.

Social media comments suggest that the “No Thanks” boycott app is mostly used by Palestinian supporters. The app you can download from the Google Play Store for Android apps and is also available for iOS, i.e., Apple devices.

However, when you look at the app review, user comments positive response on the Google Play Store review section more than 4,000 + reviews and with rating of 4.6 currently on Google Play Store.

According to No Thanks! App About Us Page, Ahmed shares a heart-wrenching story about his brother, sister lost in Israeli airstrike.

“I got this idea and i started to make it because i suffered myself from that brutal occupation, i lost my sister in 2020 after a month of suffering of medical problem and she couldn’t get an attentions she needed in Jerusalem at the right time and when she got it after a month from trying, she died in the ambulance that was going to the hospital in Jerusalem” Ahmed wrote

” On October 31, I lost my brother from a random air strike to a civilians houses which these random strike were happening a lot, so i decided to finish this app and make it entirely free and unprofitably in behalf of my brother and sister, and any money i will get from the app i will send it to a palestinians organizations that help the people in Gaza” Ahmed Wrote

According to the website operators, the boycott list targets well-known brands like Adidas, McDonald’s, Chanel, Netflix, and Apple, covering industries from food to cosmetics to streaming services. some brand added recently by users itself.
