Samay Raina: ‘Jigra’ Joke Leaves Alia Bhatt Speechless in India’s Got Latent Season 2 Premiere

Mumbai: Comedian and content creator Samay Raina made a memorable return with the premiere episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2, and it was a sharp-witted exchange with actor Alia Bhatt.

The much-awaited second season of the popular talent-comedy show premiered on June 20, featuring actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh as special guests.

Their appearance also served as a promotional outing for their upcoming action thriller Alpha.

Known for its unpredictable and unscripted format, India’s Got Latent once again delivered a mix of humour, spontaneity, and candid conversations.

However, one particular moment between Samay and Alia quickly grabbed attention across social media platforms.

Samay Raina’s Unexpected ‘Jigra’ Remark

During the opening segment, Samay welcomed Alia and Sharvari to the panel and jokingly expressed disbelief that Alia had agreed to appear on the show.

Responding to the atmosphere of the show, Alia said, “I am kinda regretting it right now.”

Samay immediately replied with a sarcastic comeback that caught everyone off guard: “Maine bhi kiya tha Jigra dekh ke regret.”

The joke appeared to leave Alia momentarily stunned, while Sharvari Wagh burst into laughter at the unexpected remark.

Alia, however, handled the moment with humour and responded instantly, saying, “Atleast, you watched the film. Thank you for contributing to my film.”

The exchange drew loud reactions from the audience and quickly emerged as one of the most talked-about moments from the season premiere.

Season 2 Marks Samay Raina’s Return

The launch of Season 2 is significant for Samay Raina, who returns to the spotlight after facing a challenging period following controversies surrounding the show’s first season.

The earlier season came under scrutiny after comments made by a guest panellist sparked widespread criticism online. The controversy led to legal complaints and intense public debate, resulting in a temporary pause for the show.

With Season 2, Samay appears focused on reviving the format that helped build a loyal fan base, while maintaining the show’s signature style of candid humour and unscripted interactions.

Streaming on YouTube and Netflix

For the first time, India’s Got Latent is being released simultaneously on YouTube and Netflix. Episodes on both platforms follow the same format and runtime, giving viewers multiple ways to watch the show.

Samay has stated that the show will continue in its original style, describing it as “no filter.” The content remains uncensored, featuring the same edgy humour and spontaneous conversations that made the series popular.

While Netflix provides an ad-free viewing experience, YouTube retains its interactive community features, allowing fans to participate through comments and discussions.

New episodes are scheduled to be released every two weeks.

Netflix Stand-Up Special

Apart from the return of India’s Got Latent, Samay Raina is also collaborating with Netflix on a separate stand-up comedy special.

Although the streaming platform has not yet announced a title or release date, the project is expected to feature Samay’s trademark storytelling, observational comedy, and personal experiences.

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Promote ‘Alpha’

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s appearance on the show comes ahead of the release of Alpha, the latest addition to the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film marks the franchise’s first female-led chapter and follows two highly trained agents on a dangerous mission.

Alia plays Sita, an elite operative trained from childhood, while Sharvari portrays another agent who joins forces with her.

The film also stars Anil Kapoor in a key role, with Bobby Deol playing the antagonist. Reports suggest that Hrithik Roshan will make a special appearance as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, linking the film to the broader Spy Universe.

Alpha is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 3, 2026.

With its mix of celebrity appearances, bold humour, and viral moments, the opening episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2 has already generated significant buzz, setting the stage for another eventful season.
