# Turkish Actress İpek Tenolcay Shares How the Qur’an Changed her Life

**Istanbul:** Turkish actress [İpek Tenolcay](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1156535/) has shared a deeply personal account of how reading the Qur'an during one of the most difficult periods of her life transformed her outlook and gave her a new sense of purpose.

Speaking about her spiritual journey, İpekTenolcay recalled that her first experience with the Qur'an came at a young age after receiving it as a gift from her mother.

“When my mother first gifted me the Qur'an, I was young; I read it but said, 'This isn't for me, I didn't like it,' and closed it.” she said

“One day, when I had hit rock bottom, I randomly opened to a verse. It was Surah Ash-Sharh. From that day on, I built my entire life on the principles I learned from it.”
