New Delhi : Uttar Pradesh Police have registered a case after a video circulating on social media allegedly showed a group of men assaulting two Muslim youths and forcing them to chant religious slogans in Sultanpur district.
The incident reportedly took place in the Faramapur area under the jurisdiction of Chanda Police Station. The viral video shows several men allegedly beating two youths while using abusive language during the incident.
In the footage, one of the alleged assailants can be heard saying, “Hindu desh me rehe, Jai Shree Ram Nahi bol pa rhe (living in Hindu country, not being able to say Jai Shree Ram).”
The victims are also seen pleading during the assault as the incident unfolds.
Following the circulation of the video online, police launched an investigation into the matter. Authorities said the video was traced to the Faramapur area and action was initiated after receiving a written complaint.
According to police officials, two accused persons have been identified so far, while efforts are underway to identify and arrest the remaining individuals involved.
Speaking about the case, the Area Officer (Lambhua) said that a case has been registered and special teams have been formed to apprehend the accused.
The Station House Officer of Chanda Police Station confirmed that one of the victims has been identified as Aftab Alam, son of Jaleel Alam, who is reportedly around 17 to 18 years old. The second victim was identified as his relative, Zeeshan.
“The boy being beaten is identified as Aftab Alam, son of Jaleel Alam and is aged around 17-18 years old. Another person with his was his relative Zeeshan.” officer said.
Providing details about the legal action taken, the officer stated, “In the aforementioned case, a case has been registered based on the written complaint. Teams have been formed for the arrest of the accused.”
“A case is registered based on the complaint made by Aftab’s father under sections 3(5), 352, 115 (2), 351 (3) and 126 (2) of Bhartiya Nyay Samhita.” He further added.
According to police, the FIR has been registered against Saksham Pandey, Chandan, Vicky Jaisal and four unidentified persons.
“The FIR is registered against Saksham Pandey, Chandan, Vicky Jaisal and 4 unknown persons. Based on the video, 2 have been identified, and we are looking for the rest.” officer said.
Police stated that the sections invoked in the FIR include provisions related to common intention, intentional insult, voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, and wrongful restraint under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Officials noted that further legal proceedings are ongoing and efforts are being made to locate and arrest all those involved in the alleged assault.
The incident has drawn attention on social media, with users calling for strict action against those responsible.
Police have said the investigation is continuing and additional action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
