New Delhi : Acclaimed filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania’s film The Voice of Hind Rajab has received clearance from India’s certification authorities after months of controversy surrounding its release.
The film tells the story of Hind Rajab, a five-year-old Palestinian girl whose death during the Gaza conflict drew international attention.
Following an earlier certification dispute, the film has now been granted an ‘A’ certificate without any cuts and is scheduled for theatrical release across India on June 19.
A Mumbai-based distributor Jai Viratra Entertainment confirmed the approval and welcomed the decision.
“Cinema serves as a powerful medium for storytelling, dialogue, and understanding diverse human experiences.” company stated.
Earlier concerns over the film’s certification sparked debate among filmmakers and free-expression advocates.
Distributor chief Manoj Nandwana had questioned objections to the film’s release, saying,
“The India-Israel relationship is so strong that it’s idiotic to think this movie will break it.”
The film has already gained international recognition and was awarded the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
Indian Senior Journalist Rana Ayyub also confirmed the Voice of Hind Rajab in India on June 19th 2026, She posted on X, “Voice of Hind Rajab to release in India on June 19th.”
Supporters say its release in India will allow audiences to engage with a story that highlights the human impact of conflict through the experiences of a young child.
The decision to clear the film for release has been welcomed by filmmakers, artists, and supporters who viewed it as an important step in ensuring diverse stories continue to reach audiences through cinema.
