# Who is Abdul El-Sayed? Trump Labels Abdul as ‘Communist’

**LAS VEGAS :** President [Donald Trump](https://alitoday.com/tag/donald-trump/) sharply criticized [Abdul El-Sayed](https://x.com/AbdulElSayed), the winner of Michigan's Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate race, during a campaign-style event in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Trump called [Abdul El-Sayed](https://alitoday.com/tag/abdul-el-sayed/) "a man of hate" and accused the 41-year-old progressive Democrat of being a "communist" who "hates" Israel and Jewish people.

"This guy hates Jews. Somebody said, 'Oh that's a little strong.' No, he hates Jews and he hates Israel," Trump said.

"He's a man of hate, and now he's going around saying, 'No, I love everybody.' He doesn't love everybody. Put him in office, you're going to find out what he loves." added

El-Sayed, who is seeking to become the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate, has previously rejected claims that he is a socialist or communist.

In an earlier interview, he said, "I actually think that at the small and local scale, capitalism is a great way to allocate resources, as long as everybody has access to it."

He has also denied accusations of antisemitism. Speaking after Trump's comments, El-Sayed repeated, "My commitment to Jewish safety is the same commitment that I have to the safety of my own daughters."

Trump had earlier said on social media that El-Sayed's victory in the Democratic primary was "great news" for the Republican Party.

He also made unproven claims about voter irregularities in Michigan and suggested that the general election could be "rigged."

Speaking to CNN on Wednesday evening, El-Sayed explained his position on foreign policy.

He said he was "opposed to unconditional military aid for any country," including Israel, and argued that taxpayer money should also be used for healthcare, schools, and roads.

Responding to Trump's personal attacks, El-Sayed used humor, saying he was "glad" Trump had at one point called him a "lovely gentleman." He added, "a lot of people think so."

[Abdul El-Sayed](https://alitoday.com/tag/abdul-el-sayed/) then urged Trump to focus on issues facing Americans.

"We're living through an affordability crisis that is generational, people are paying nearly $5 in gas because of a war he started, and half the time, if he's not talking about me, he's talking about the drapes in his ballroom,"

"So at the end of the day, I invite the President to focus on what I'm saying." El-Sayed said.

The exchange comes as [Abdul El-Sayed](https://alitoday.com/tag/abdul-el-sayed/) prepares for the general election after winning Michigan's Democratic Senate primary, with his campaign focusing on affordability, healthcare, and public services.
