# YouTube Rolling Out In-App Chat feature with Invite Only

**California:** YouTube has announced the expansion of its in-app video sharing and messaging feature to users in the United States and several other global markets, allowing more people to share videos and interact with friends directly within the platform.

The feature, available to users aged 18 and above, is designed to make sharing content easier without requiring users to leave the [YouTube ](https://alitoday.com/tag/youtube/)app.

The rollout follows positive feedback from regions where the feature had already been introduced.

In a statement, [YouTube ](https://blog.youtube/news-and-events/youtube-in-app-video-sharing-messaging/)said, **“Our community loves to share videos with their friends and family, and we want them to be able to do it in one place. Today, we’re starting to expand our in-app video sharing and messaging feature to the U.S. and other global locations so more users 18 and older can connect over their favorite videos directly on YouTube.”**

The new functionality enables users to share videos, invite friends to conversations, and react to content in real time.

The feature can be accessed through a new messaging icon integrated directly into the YouTube application.

According to the company, users will be able to discuss a wide range of content, including music videos, educational tutorials, and [YouTube ](https://alitoday.com/tag/youtube/)Shorts, while continuing to watch videos on the platform.

**“Whether it’s a new music video, a helpful tutorial, or a funny Short, this update will give users a new way to share right where they’re watching. Simply click the new messaging icon directly within the YouTube app to send an invite to share videos and react in real-time.”** YouTube stated.

The expansion reflects YouTube’s broader efforts to strengthen user engagement and create more social experiences within its ecosystem.

Allowing conversations to happen alongside video viewing, the company aims to keep users connected without relying on external messaging applications.

YouTube also emphasized that all interactions through the feature will remain subject to the platform’s existing policies.

**“As with all features on YouTube, our Community Guidelines apply to all shared content and messages.”** company noted that.

The video-sharing giant said it is eager to gather feedback from users in newly supported markets and plans to continue expanding the feature in the future.

“We’re excited for user feedback in new markets and look forward to expanding even further soon,” the company added.

The rollout marks another step in YouTube’s push to enhance community interaction, making it easier for users worldwide to discover, share, and discuss content directly within the app.
