Popular YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has been issued summons by a Delhi Court following a defamation suit filed against him by BJP leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua.
Suit alleges that Rathee referred to Nakhua’s involvement in “violent and abusive trolls” in a YouTube video titled “My Reply to Godi Youtubers, Elvish Yadav.”
District Judge Gunjan Gupta issued the summons, listing the case for a hearing on August 6. The defamation suit names Rathee, social media platform X, and Google as defendants. Nakhua claims that Rathee’s false accusations in the video have caused significant damage to his personal and professional reputation.
“The video in question has received over 24 million views and more than 2.3 million likes, a number that continues to soar with every passing moment,” the suit was quoted by Live Law in its report.

“That the Defendant No. 1 is also engaged in committing habitual defamation, giving online threats, deteriorating a fellow YouTuber’s career, etc. by using his audience, which runs in over 23.3 million subscribers on YouTube and over 2.6 million followers on the X platform,” the suit reads.
The case highlights the growing impact of online defamation and the legal consequences it can entail.
