A CISF constable identified as Kulwinder Kaur has been arrested and suspended after allegedly slapping Kangana Ranaut at the Chandigarh airport on Thursday. The newly-elected Mandi MP and actor was on her way to board a flight to Delhi when the incident occurred.
The constable reportedly took offense to an old statement made by Ms. Ranaut and accused her of disrespecting farmers. A police case has been filed against Kaur, who has been charged with unprofessional conduct. This incident highlights the need for law enforcement officials to remain unbiased and professional while performing their duties.
“She gave a statement… that farmers are sitting there for ₹ 100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement…,” she said, referring to the farmers’ protest in 2020 against the three farm laws passed by the Centre.
Amidst a nationwide agitation, Kangana Ranaut found herself embroiled in controversy when she made a social media post suggesting that an elderly woman at a protest site was being paid ₹100 to be present there. This remark sparked widespread backlash, leading the actor to eventually delete the post.
Recently, at the airport, an incident involving Ranaut unfolded. While being escorted to the security checkpoint, an argument ensued, although the alleged slap was not captured on the video recorded by onlookers. Following the incident, Ranaut took to X to share a video message addressing the events that transpired at the airport.

This incident adds to the ongoing discourse surrounding Ranaut’s statements and actions, highlighting the need for individuals to exercise caution and responsibility when expressing their opinions, particularly during contentious times.
“The incident happened at the security check-in. The woman guard waited for me to cross. She then came and hit me… started throwing expletives. I asked (her) why she hit me. She said, ‘I support farmers’. I am safe… but my concern is terrorism is rising in Punjab. How do we handle that?” she said in the video.
The actor faced online backlash in February 2021 after she responded to a post by singer Rihanna on the farmers’ protest. “Why aren’t we talking about this?“, the pop icon said while sharing a video of the farmers protesting.

Ms Ranaut hit out at the post by labelling the protestors as “terrorists“. “No one is talking about it because they are not farmers, they are terrorists who are trying to divide India, so that China can take over our vulnerable broken nation and make it a Chinese colony much like the USA… Sit down you fool, we are not selling our nation like you dummies,” she said.
However, she later deleted that post.
The farmers’ protest, which started in 2020/21, became very famous in India and around the world. Kangana Ranaut, however, disagreed with the protests and made many posts on social media criticizing the protesters.
During her election campaign, the people who were protesting the farmers’ protest blocked Kangana Ranaut’s convoy in Chandigarh because they were angry about her comments. This incident shows that the farmers’ protest issue is controversial, and people have different opinions about it.
