Luxembourg – Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel have informed a parliamentary commission that Luxembourg intends to recognize the state of Palestine.

According to Luxembourg media, a final decision is expected later in September during the UN General Assembly in New York, in coordination with countries such as France and Belgium. While Luxembourg had hesitated for months, the announcement comes amid growing calls by European leaders for ‘Israel’ to end its offensive in Gaza.

On Tuesday, the UN Independent International Commission released a report stating that United Nations investigators concluded ‘Israeli’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant have “incited the commission of genocide” in Gaza.

Meanwhile, last week European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the EU was pausing payments to the country and sanctioning what she described as “extremist ministers” and violent settlers.
