Palestine condemns 'Israeli' offensive, more than 350,000 displaced

Gaza: The Gaza government on Saturday condemned Israel’s ongoing military campaign, saying it has forced more than 350,000 residents from eastern Gaza City, Palestine to flee toward central and western areas in search of safety.

In a statement, the Government Media Office said Israeli forces have targeted residential neighborhoods since launching a ground offensive on August 11, 2025.

Officials accused the military of striking homes, hospitals, schools, mosques, and temporary shelters, causing widespread civilian casualties and destruction.

The statement rejected remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz who described the operation as “opening the gates of hell” on Palestinian resistance arguing that the offensive has primarily harmed women, children, and the elderly.

Authorities in Gaza reported that more than 1,600 multi-story buildings have been completely destroyed, over 2,000 severely damaged, and some 13,000 tents housing displaced families demolished since the start of the campaign.

In September alone, at least 70 buildings were leveled, 120 others badly damaged, and more than 3,500 tents destroyed—affecting more than 100,000 residents who had already been displaced.

Officials described the forced displacement as a “clear violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions,” and urged the international community to intervene to stop the attacks, safeguard civilians, and hold Israel accountable for alleged war crimes.

According to Gaza authorities, the Israeli offensive has killed more than 64,800 Palestinians since October 2023. The fighting has devastated infrastructure, deepened food shortages, and worsened humanitarian conditions across the enclave.
