US-based start-up Cognition has introduced a groundbreaking AI software engineer named Devin. This AI engineer can do a lot of the work that human software engineers do, like writing, debugging, and deploying code to create websites and videos.
Devin is like the next-level version of Copilot, another AI software for developers created by GitHub, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
What makes Devin special is that it can take a single command and turn it into a fully working website or software program.
It’s not just about giving suggestions or completing parts of the code automatically; Devin can handle entire software projects on its own.

One of the coolest things about Devin is its ability to find and fix bugs by itself, which saves a lot of time and effort for developers. It comes with its own tools like a command line, code editor, and browser, so it can work independently.
Cognition’s CEO, Scott Wu, demonstrated Devin’s capabilities in a video where you can see how it performs tasks, finds bugs, and tests the code it writes. It’s like having a super-smart assistant for software development!
“Teaching AI to be a programmer is actually a very deep algorithmic problem that requires the system to make complex decisions and look a few steps into the future to decide what route it should pick,” Scott Wu told the Bloomberg.
“It’s almost like this game that we’ve all been playing in our minds for years, and now there’s this chance to code it into an AI system,” he said.
