Texas Hit Flash Floods At Least 51 Dead, Dozens Missing

At least 51 people have died after strong flash floods hit central Texas early Friday. The floods were caused by heavy rain overnight, which made the Guadalupe River overflow.

The worst damage happened in Kerr County. Around 4 a.m., fast-moving water swept through the area, killing at least 43 people. This includes 15 children and 28 adults. Officials are still working to identify 5 children and 12 adults.

Other deaths were reported in nearby areas: 1 in Kendall County, 4 in Travis County, 2 in Burnet County, and 1 in San Angelo, which is in Tom Green County.

Dozens of people are still missing in this Floods. Among them are 27 girls from Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp near the river in Kerr County.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said emergency teams have already rescued hundreds of people. He promised that search and rescue efforts will continue non-stop until everyone is found.
