ABU DHABI — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday reaffirmed Türkiye’s strong support for the sovereignty and security of the United Arab Emirates during a phone conversation with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as tensions continue to rise across the Middle East.
According to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations alongside recent regional and global developments during the high-level call.
The directorate said Erdogan also conveyed his wishes for a swift recovery from the damage caused by the ongoing regional conflict.
In a statement shared on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Erdogan stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and the UAE in key sectors including trade, energy, and security.
The conversation also focused on the continuing tensions involving the United States and Iran. Erdogan described the recent developments in the region as “regrettable” and said Ankara remains actively engaged in diplomatic efforts aimed at supporting dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
The Turkish president emphasized that Türkiye continues to maintain diplomatic contacts with relevant countries in an effort to help facilitate a negotiated solution between the two sides and prevent further escalation in the region.
Erdogan additionally underlined the need for stronger dialogue and regional cooperation to address growing security challenges across the Middle East, according to the official statement.
The call comes amid heightened geopolitical uncertainty in the Gulf region, with several countries closely monitoring developments surrounding U.S.-Iran relations, maritime security, and regional stability.
