At UFC 304 in Manchester, England, Belal Muhammad pulled off a remarkable upset by defeating Leon Edwards and claiming the title of UFC Welterweight Champion.
Muhammad’s impressive wrestling skills and strategic approach to the fight proved to be the key factors in his victory. The judges unanimously scored the fight in his favor, with scores of 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46.
Right from the beginning, Muhammad had a plan to counter Edwards, who had been winning his last four fights. Muhammad used his wrestling skills to execute nine takedowns during the fight, constantly putting Edwards in a defensive position and restricting his chances to attack. Muhammad’s striking abilities were also important as they helped him control the pace and positioning of the fight.
