Google has introduced a new feature called “Search Profiles,” aimed at helping creators and publishers manage their online presence while making it easier for audiences to discover and follow their content directly through Google Search and Discover. The feature creates a dedicated and shareable profile that allows eligible creators and publishers to display content from across the web, including articles, videos, websites, and social media posts. Google says the initiative is designed to provide users with accurate, up-to-date information about creators and news sources they encounter online. According to Google, Search Profiles offer a centralized hub where creators can highlight their latest work across multiple platforms. The company believes this will help audiences find content more easily while giving publishers greater visibility within Google’s ecosystem. In an official announcement, Google said the new profiles are designed to help creators and publishers "showcase their content across the web and help people discover and follow their latest work." Easier Discovery Through Search and Discover Users can access Search Profiles on mobile devices through a creator or publisher’s Knowledge Panel, by tapping on a creator’s name within Google Discover, or through a direct profile link. The feature also introduces a follow option, allowing users to follow creators and publishers directly from their profiles. This may increase the likelihood of their content appearing in Discover, Google’s personalized content feed available through the Google app. Eligibility Requirements Google stated that creators and publishers must have a significant following on at least one major social media platform or video-sharing service to qualify for a Search Profile. Once verified, eligible users can personalize their profile by adding: Profile photo or avatar Biography Website links Social media accounts Video channels Other relevant content and links The company said these customizations will help audiences better understand a creator’s work and online presence. Integration With Knowledge Panels Google noted that claiming a Search Profile may automatically generate a Knowledge Panel for eligible creators and publishers who do not already have one. For users who already have an existing Knowledge Panel, Google will enhance it with updated profile details, including a new avatar, recent content, and a direct link to the creator’s Search Profile. Initial Rollout in the United States The company confirmed that Search Profiles are currently being rolled out in the United States. Google plans to expand access to more creators and publishers globally in the future while introducing additional features and improvements. Google said the launch is part of its broader effort to support creators, journalists, publishers, and content producers by strengthening their visibility online and helping users connect with trusted sources directly through Search and Discover. As competition for online attention continues to grow, Search Profiles could become an important tool for creators and publishers looking to build stronger audiences and establish a more recognizable presence across Google’s platforms.
