In 2024, Shark Tank India has returned with a new season of hopeful entrepreneurs hoping to gain advice and investments from a panel of some of the biggest names in Indian business. Shark Tank India’s 2024 season has brought on Inshorts co-founder and CEO Azhar Iqubal as a new Shark, or judge, for its most recent season.
Who is Azhar Iqubal?
Azhar Iqubal is an Entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of InShorts, a news app that shortens news and writes it within 60 words. The 31-year-old founded the company as a Facebook page along with Deepit Purkayastha and Anunay Arunav. In 2013, they released the app. 2015 saw the release of the app for Apple iPhones following its initial success. Soon, it was shortlisted for the third batch of Nasscom’s 10,000 startups.

Dropout From IIT
Entrepreneur Azhar Iqubal used to study at IIT but dropped out of his course. Iqubal studied computer science and mathematics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, from 2009 to 2012 before quitting, according to his LinkedIn profile. As he joined as the new Shark on the show, Iqubal reflected on his IIT decision. “Ten years ago, as I was stepping into my 20s, I took a leap of faith and dropped out of IIT Delhi to start Inshorts. The last decade has been a wild ride, full of excitement,” he said in an Instagram post.
