A Russian warship Navy ship called the Marshal Shaposhnikov sailed into the port of Hamad in Qatar. It’s there to join in a defense exhibition called DIMDEX-2024, as reported by the Interfax news agency on Monday.
“A welcoming ceremony for the Russian warship took place at the pier, in which representatives of the Russian Embassy in Qatar and officers of the naval forces of the host country took part,” the agency cited the press service as saying.
A Russian destroyer, the Marshal Shaposhnikov, which recently participated in an anti-submarine exercise in the South China Sea in January, has embarked on a lengthy journey since January 22, as reported by Russian agencies.
The ship is currently enroute and made a stop at the port of Hamad in Qatar.

This visit is in preparation for its participation in the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX), scheduled to take place from March 4th to March 6th, according to information provided on the exhibition’s website.
The DIMDEX event serves as a platform for showcasing maritime defense technologies and fostering discussions on security-related matters.
The presence of the Russian destroyer at the exhibition underscores the global participation and interest in such defense conferences.
