California: Google has officially launched a dedicated Google Finance app for Android, bringing its financial tracking service back to mobile users more than a decade after the original app was discontinued. The launch follows months of beta testing and introduces a redesigned experience powered by Google's Gemini AI models. The company has also announced new portfolio management and personalized research features aimed at helping users better understand their investments. One of the biggest additions is the introduction of Portfolios, which are now rolling out globally. The feature allows users to track all of their investments from a single dashboard. According to Google, users can view “all your investments consolidated in a single dashboard that shows performance data, as well as insights on your asset allocation and more.” Investors can quickly create a portfolio by uploading PDF or CSV files or simply adding a screenshot containing their investment holdings. Google has also expanded its AI-powered research capabilities, enabling users to ask conversational questions about their portfolios and market trends. Examples include, “what sectors are currently underrepresented in my portfolio?” and “how does my fixed income allocation impact my long-term growth potential?” Another new feature allows users to request personalized financial updates using natural language. For example, users can ask, “Send me a daily pre-market briefing analyzing significant overnight moves across major cryptocurrencies.” Once created, these AI-generated briefings are delivered through notifications in the Google app on Android and iOS, while also appearing in the Google Finance web interface. The newly released Android app includes a personalized watchlist, live market prices, financial news, and AI-generated insights that explain major stock movements. Google says users can also access its AI research tool directly within the app through a floating "Ask" button, making it easier to explore investment-related questions while browsing financial data. The application adopts Google's latest Material 3 Expressive design language, offering a modern interface optimized for smartphones. Looking ahead, the company confirmed that additional features including live earnings calls and expanded portfolio tools will arrive over the coming months. Google Finance is now available for Android users, while an iOS version is expected to launch later this year. Google Finance as a standalone mobile app reflects the company's growing investment in AI-powered financial tools.
