American President Donald Trump has announced a 25% tax (tariff) on all products coming from India to the United States, starting August 1, 2025.

He said India is not giving fair access to American goods and keeps high taxes on U.S. imports. He criticized India on Truth Social Post.

Donald Trump also warned of more penalties imposes in future because India continues to buy oil and weapons from Russia.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that India and Russia can take their “dead economies” down together, criticizing India’s continuing trade and defense relations with Russia.

Trump speak on the three:

India’s “tariffs are far too high, among the highest in the world”.

India has “always bought a vast majority of their military equipment from Russia”.

India is “Russia’s largest buyer of energy, along with China”.

On all these counts, Trump is far from truth and reality.

The Indian government said it is looking into the matter and will take steps to protect the country’s farmers, small businesses, and exporters.

India also said it still wants to keep trade talks open with the U.S.

This move could affect India’s exports like clothes, jewellery, medicines, and electronics, which are heavily sold in the U.S.

Even after Trump’s strong comments, trade officials from both countries are expected to meet in August to continue negotiations.
