New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday announced the appointment of three spokespersons, describing the move as part of its effort to build a “new generation of leaders” and strengthen its public engagement ahead of a planned protest in the national capital.
The announcement marks one of the first organizational steps taken by the movement, which has gained significant attention on social media over the past few weeks and attracted millions of followers online.
In a statement shared on social media, the group said the spokespersons would represent the movement before the public and media.
Investigative journalist Saurav Das was named Chief Spokesperson, while political researcher and filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya and former McKinsey consultant and IIT Kanpur graduate Ashutosh Ranka were appointed as spokespersons.
The organization said the appointments reflect its goal of bringing forward a “new generation of leaders” capable of engaging with issues affecting young Indians.
Founded by political strategist Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janta Party began as a satirical online movement but has rapidly evolved into a broader platform discussing issues such as education, unemployment, examination controversies, and governance.
The group is preparing for a protest scheduled for June 6, where supporters plan to raise concerns over recent examination related controversies and demand greater accountability from policymakers.
Abhijeet Dipke has announced that he will return to India to participate in the demonstration despite concerns about possible legal action.
The movement has attracted both support and criticism. Supporters view it as a fresh youth-led platform that uses humor and digital activism to highlight public concerns, while critics question its long-term political objectives and organizational structure.
Cockroach Janta Party is attempting to transform its digital popularity into a more structured public movement, beginning with the appointment of its first official spokespersons and a planned public protest in New Delhi.
