Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is the holiest month for Muslims. It is expected to begin around February 18 or February 19, depending on the sighting of the moon.
During Ramadan 2026, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.
They do not eat, drink, or smoke during the day. The fast is broken in the evening with a meal called Iftar, and the early morning meal before fasting begins is called Suhoor.
In many Across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, working hours are reduced for public and several private sector employees during the month.
